Team Lidl-Trek also won the 4th and final stage - how could it be otherwise? This time the Dane Mads Pedersen rode to victory again and thus also took the overall victory. With a time of 4 hours, 23 minutes and 42 seconds, he finished ahead of the Dutchman Danny van Poppel (Red Bull - BORA hansgrohe), who came second.
Third place went to the US-American Luke Lamperti (Soudal Quick-Step).
In addition to the expo and the “kinder Joy of Moving mini Tour”, the second race of the Newcomer Tour and the Cycling Tour - the mass sports race - were two further highlights of the side events. Around 1800 participants cycled on two different routes and were able to cheer on the finishing straight of the elite race.
Lidl-Trek was also unbeatable in the 3rd stage of the Lidl Deutschland Tour 2024 from Schwäbisch Gmünd to Villingen-Schwenningen. Jonathan Milan once again took victory in the queen stage with a time of 5 hours, 17 minutes and 57 seconds. Second and third place went to the German Max Kanter (AST) and the Belgian Jordi Meeus (RBH). Team Lidl-Trek with the Dane Mads Pedersen also retained the lead in the overall standings.
In addition to the Expo Tour and the “kinder Joy of Moving mini Tour”, there was a very special highlight at the side events in Villingen-Schwenningen. The Newcomer Tour for young female riders was held on the elite finishing circuit and with prior registration and subsequent award ceremony, the girls had the full program. In the end, three Italians stood on the podium: Matilde Rossignoli (1st place), Azzurra Ballan (2nd place) and Silvia Ciaghi (3rd place).
The 2nd stage of the Lidl Deutschland Tour 2204 was also dominated by Team Lidl Trek. However, it was not Jonathan Milan who proved successful on the route from Heilbronn to Schwäbisch Gmünd, but the Dane Mads Pedersen. In difficult conditions due to the high temperatures, he crossed the finish line after 4 hours, 25 minutes and 50 seconds. Tobias Johannessen (UXM) came second and Archie Ryan (EFE) third. Pedersen thus takes the overall lead ahead of Johannessen and Hayter.
There was also plenty going on again at the side events in the finish town of Schwäbisch Gmünd. The Expo was a hit with numerous exhibitors and the “kinder Joy of Moving” bike adventure world. And the “kinder Joy of Moving mini tour” bike race celebrated a record number of participants with six groups of children at the start.
The first stage of the Lidl Deutschland Tour 2024 ran from Schweinfurt to Heilbronn. In the elite race, the winner of the prologue, Jonathan Milan (Lidl-Trek), once again came out on top. He won in 4 hours, 16 minutes and 17 seconds against Jordi Meeus (RBH) and Max Kanter (AST).
Several side events also took place in Heilbronn to offer visitors an unforgettable day of cycling. In addition to the “kinder Joy of Moving mini tour” and the Expo Tour, there were two very special highlights on this day. Firstly, there was a ride tour especially for Lidl employees - the Lidl Germany headquarters are located in Heilbronn. And secondly, there was an exciting challenge: influencer Paul Ripke cycled the last 500 meters of the finishing straight against former professional cyclist Rick Zabel.
The Lidl Deutschland Tour 2024 kicked off in Schweinfurt. Jonathan Milan (Lidl-Trek) won the prologue of the elite race with a time of 3 minutes, 16 seconds and 31 tenths of a second. His teammate Mads Pedersen was just one hundredth behind him. Third place went to Maikel Zijlaard (Tudor Pro Cycling Team) with +02”.
The side events were also in full swing on the first day of the Lidl Deutschland Tour 2024. At the “kinder Joy of Moving mini tour”, the little ones were able to show what they are made of and at the Ride Tour, motivated riders were able to do laps on the route of the pros. The Expo Tour - our trade fair - was also a complete success and attracted numerous cycling enthusiasts to the event area and the route.
